This week I had the privilege of talking with all three of our Top Risers for 2011. Te thing that came through so clearly in my conversations with these three was they love what they do. Here are three additional elements that showed up.

1. They are hard workers.

2. The love solving customer’s problems.

3. They set big goals.

I am so proud of these three gentlemen and their accomplishments in 2011. They have all set a great example for us to emulate. I want to congratulate them again for a great year!

Veteran Juan Carrera shared a great story with his manager, Eric Brown. Juan called back on a customer he had not sold since 2003. This visit the customer was very excited to see Juan.

The customer began relaying problems they were having in their store that they had not been able to solve with standard lighting. “Can you fix these problems for me” was the customer’s plea.

Juan was only too happy to help the customer solve the problems with Maintenance Engineering’s lighting. After explaining to the customer which products would solve the problem, the customer placed a great order with Juan. Not only that, but the customer was very grateful for the great service Juan provided.

Juan we are very proud of your service you provided this customer. Satisfied customers are a testament to others as to what Maintenance Engineering’s great lamps can do.

At the Year-End Blowout, Bill Kunzelman commented on the important role that referrals play in building his business. Here is what he said:

“About three years ago the power of referrals was heightened in my thinking After completely lamping a large machine shop in Griffin, GA, I asked the owner if she could provide me with at least three referrals. Her comment was, “I am going to do more than that. We have many clients who need your product.” About a month later she sent me an e-mail with an attachment that listed 120 of their clients! I will list only three that cam from this generous list: Delta Airlines, Robins Air Force Base, and Atlanta Gear Works. Also, from these new account I have accessed referrals as well. The “power of referrals” can provide each of us with new accounts for our file boxes year after year! Ask and you will receive!”

Powerful … and profitable. As direct salespeople you work hard to get to the buyer and to build that all important personal relationship. Why not leverage that relationship by asking your customer for their help in building your business. With a little prompting nearly everyone is happy and honored to help you.

I saw the power of referrals on the first day of the Company’s existence. We cold called all day long without a single pitch until 3:30 at a school…and an order.. and an order.. and three referrals… then three orders back to back for a total of four orders at the end of the day. .ALL BECAUSE OF REFERRALS.

Today referrals are more important than ever. Company gate keepers are very proficient so bypassing then with a name is valuable. If you aren’t using referrals to this extent, you should take a look at improving these profitable skills. Call you coordinator for suggestions and tips. 2012 is going to be a great year so use referrals to help you get off to a great start!

We have delayed the NEVADA ADVENTURE TRIP to 2013 so more people could fit it into their schedules… and tap into Maintenance Engineering for more LUXURY DOLLARS!

Maintenance Engineering Product Tip “Full Spectrum Light Treats Winter Blues”

Soon 2012 will be underway. It’s going to be a very profitable exciting year. One way to insure you get the most out of 2012 is to put the most into it. As DaVinci said “Thou, O God, dost sell us all good things at the price of labor.” Another way to phrase that is there is no such thing as a free lunch.

To insure a great 2012, get excited about a goal, then share your goal with your manager. Chase one or more of Maintenance Engineering’s Awards that fire your imagination. Get excited about them and then go after them. Picture yourself receiving those awards at the end of 2012. It will ensure a great year for you!

Christmas, it’s my favorite holiday. While I enjoy all of the traditional aspects of Christmas and what it stands for, I most enjoy the spirit of Christmas. It’s a spirit that fills everyone during this season and makes it so very special.

During Christmas, we worry less about thing we shouldn’t have worried about in the first place and instead focus on our families, our good fortune and the good around us. Our attitudes shift to become much more positive. We ignore the negative and focus on all the good in our lives. We focus on our good fortune of having been born in America and all of the positive things that have happened to us as a result.

The spirit of Christmas is really the result of everyone’s attitudes becoming more positive during the season. This year, really get into the “Christmas Spirit” by focusing on the good in your life, the positives. Then, hold onto this spirit, this positive attitude and carry it into 2012 and through the entire New Year. It will insure a great Christmas and a great 2012 for you, your family, and your career!

It is almost hard to believe that we have come to another Christmas. It is a time of the year when we recall memories of past Christmases and celebrations with siblings, parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Yet the best memories are the ones we make this Christmas!

Perhaps that is really what Christmas is about. To tell the good news of Christmas to everyone who will stand long enough to listen to our story. Then spend the next year living the story of Christmas so others can see it in us.
