“The good life is a process, not a state of being.” -Carl Rogers
A positive attitude is something that must be worked at continuously . It is something that throughout your whole life you will have to consciously cultivate. But as you practice being positive it becomes much easier. However, we must be rigorous in our pursuit of positivity.
What I’m talking about is positivity in the face of any circumstances, good or bad. The goal is to be able to handle anything from a positive and more productive mindset. Has any good come of making decisions from an anxious, worrisome, stressed, and/or negative mindset?
I offer three pillars of positive thinking.
1. Accept the present. The “should of” ,”could of”, or “would of” does not apply anymore. The situation is simply what it is. The future can be change but we must be in the present.
2. Don’t Worry– The poet Robert Frost said “The reason why worry kills more people than work is that more people worry than work.” How true! Worry is absolutely worthless in getting anything done. So why do it? When in doubt… Don’t worry. Work!
3. Be Happy– Cheerfulness is the best mindset for figuring out solutions. Negative circumstances can not dictate your feelings if you maintain a positive attitude. Imagine a cheerful you making decisions in comparison to the anxious or worried you. You will find no utility in negative emotions. Positivity is the best strategy for any life solution.
